Il 10 dicembre inaugura la prima edizione di Italian Experimental Cinema - una mostra di cinema d’artista italiano dalla protostoria del Futurismo fino ai nostri giorni che si terrà dal 10 al 14 dicembre presso il Nuovo Cinema Aquila. Questa mostra antologica sul cosiddetto “Cinema d’artista” e più in generale su quello indipendente include proiezioni cinematografiche, opere grafiche, fotografiche e installazioni multimediali e si terrà presso gli spazi del Nuovo Cinema Aquila.

Inaugurazione mostra al Nuovo Cinema Aquila con opere di:

Pietro D’Agostino, Nato Frascà, Arcangelo Mazzoleni,
Studio Di Monte Olimpino: Munari-Piccardo, Adel Oberto, Luca Maria Patella, Nino Pezzella, Loic Sturani, Paolo W. Tamburella e Zimmerfrei.

h. 21.30 - ENOMISOSSAB & Andy Rivieni si esibiranno in una fantasmagoria per voce e corpo al Nuovo Cinema Aquila

Giovedì 11, h. 21.30 - Giovanni Martedì metterà filmicamente a “fuoco” la facciata di Palazzo Farnese, sede dell’Ambasciata di Francia, con un'improvvisazione di expanded-cinema.

Italian Experimental Cinema ripercorre la storia del cinema d'artista e/o sperimentale, partendo dalle origini del cinema, quando le potenzialità del dispositivo di ripresa e di proiezione cominciavano ad essere indagate, fino a spalancare la porta alla contemporaneità. Gli oltre 40 artisti e cineasti coinvolti sono qui chiamati in causa in virtù della loro entrata nella nuova era digitale attraverso il riciclo di materiale in pellicola, la costruzione di apparecchiature stenopeiche Super-8, l’uso di cineprese Super8, 16mm, 35mm, videocamere digitali, personal computer, applicazioni di editing scanning e rendering. Questa infinita serie di dispositivi ha consentito agli artisti di produrre immagini e di rinnovare il linguaggio audiovisivo di un cinema in cui le tecniche utilizzate per la realizzazione dei film non erano e non sono indifferenti al contenuto degli stessi.

Il progetto Italian Experimental Cinema sarà accompagnato da un catalogo critico e informativo con contributi di differenti autori.

La manifestazione è realizzata con il sostegno del Comune di Roma – Assessorato alle Politiche Culturali e della Comunicazione e con il patrocinio e il sostegno dell'Ambasciata di Francia in Italia.

The first edition of Italian Experimental Cinema opens on the 10th of December with an exhibition of Italian art cinema from the protohistory of Futurism until our days. It will take place from the 10th to the 14th December mainly at the Nuovo Cinema Aquila and with a live performance, on the 11th December at the French Embassy in Rome.

This anthological exhibition on the so called “cinema made by artists” and more in general on the independent cinema includes screenings, graphic works, photos and multimedia installations.

Live performance of improvised expanded cinema where the artist will filmically “set on fire” the facade of Palazzo Farnese, home of the French Embassy in Rome

Italian Experimental Cinema retraces the story of cinema of Italian artists film makers, starting from the origins of cinema when the potentials of the shooting devices started to be investigated until they opened the door to the contemporary. The 40 and more artists and filmmakers are herewith made visible and presented in virtue of their entry in this new digital era through the recycling of film print material, the construction of pinhole Super-8 cameras, the use of Super-8 cameras, 16mm, 35mm. digital video cameras, personal computers and applications of editing, scanning and rendering. These infinite series of devices have allowed the artists to produce images and renew the audiovisual language in which these techniques used for the making of the film were and are not indifferent to the content of the same films.

The project Italian Experimental Cinema will be accompanied by an informative and critical catalogue with the contribution of various experts, artists and authors.

The event is realized with the support of the Rome City Council – Department for the Cultural affairs and Communications (Comune di Roma – Assessorato alle Politiche Culturali e della Comunicazione) and with the patronage and support of the French Embassy in Italy.
