Reconstruction
Bogdan Pavlovic's latest cycle of paintings comprises pieces which differ significantly from his previous art production in terms of his art technique in non-painterly materials and themes, this time it is the history and culture of the twentieth century.
In his painting with a floor carpet as surface, with the use of pastel, acrylic and charcoal, Bogdan Pavlovic starts from photo documents of certain events and, then, he creates a series of comments on some emblematic scenes from the past in an almost expressive manner. These paintings are characterised by visual clarity and homogenous unity, and the entire cycle represents a form of making some unique social and cultural and ambient places live issues again.
Bogdan Pavlovic was born in 1969. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, lives and works in Paris. Since 1997 he has exhibited his works of art at numerous group exhibitions held in Belgrade, Milan, Paris, Stockholm and Novi Sad. He has had eight solo exhibitions in Paris, Florence, Belgrade and Novi Sad. He has done projects together with Emir Kusturica and General Motors Company. The most important awards: Radio France Awards for Painting (1994), “Antoine Marin” Award and “Lefrance & Bourgeois painting” Award (1997).
