Craig Fishers works are sculptures that refer to the worlds of high fashion and popular
film, and are fabricated from advanced, yet utilitarian materials such as neoprene, gore-tex,
army fatigue, leather, corduroy and wool. The work depicts hi-tech equipment and clothing,
often juxtaposed with idiosyncratic natural elements.
Craig Fisher has recently shown in Teeth and Trousers at Cell Project Space, Assembly at
Stepney Hall, Imaginarium at VTO gallery, and at Inside Space in London. A Goldsmiths
graduate, he was awarded the Saatchi bursary in 2000. His next project is Synthetic a
group show at Galerie Zurcher in Paris.
Twan Janssen has for many years been working with a re-invention of painting. Instead of
dealing with the traditional "paint on canvas" he has invented a new way of modelling
acrylic paint to make three-dimensional objects. With skill and humour he has created the
most fabulous pieces of objects that all are part of his own invented "play". He has given all
his artworks "stage property numbers"; defining them, as props in the play of his own
career and no longer as "real" works of art.
Twan Janssen's recent solo exhibitions include Galleria Raucci / SantaMaria, Naples (with
Glenn Sorensen) 2001; "Suicide is Painless," Air de Paris, Paris; "Attitudes," Stadsgalerij
Heerlen, with David Bade; "Next," Galerie van Gelder, Amsterdam; Adventures In Denial,
Jenn Joy Gallery, San Francisco (with Terri Friedman); Collector's Delight, Galleri Flach,
Stockholm, 2000 and Air de Paris, Stedelijk Museum, Schiedam (cat.) in 1999.
Using found materials such as carpet and fabric scraps, buttons, matches, plywood, and
glitter, Jonathan Pylypchuk invents an imaginary world filled with dashed hopes and futile
longings, where glitter clouds and peculiar humanoid creatures muse about life and
loneliness in poetic texts that function like comic-book dialogue bubbles.
Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Jonathan Pylypchuk received a B.F.A. from the University of
Manitoba, Canada, in 1997 and an M.F.A. from UCLA in 2000. Recently he has had solo
exhibitions at Friedrich Petzel Gallery, New York, and China Art Objects Galleries, Los
Angeles, and has participated in group exhibitions at Sadie Coles HQ, London, and Works
on Paper, Inc., Los Angeles.
Jude Tallichet makes sculptures fusing architecture and sound. The works are made from
synthetic materials such as plexi-glass and high density plastics. A brief survey of the
buildings relays the mythology of urban America in its celebration of the instant
gratification of both religious and secular architecture: retail outlets meet temples and
churches, trailers and home sweet homes. From within each piece emerges a composed
score comprised of writings and treatises such as the anti-Hollywood rhetoric of Dogma 95,
love songs and an average day on PBS radio.
Jude Tallichet has recently shown in the International show Officina America at the Galleria
di Arte Moderna, Bologna, Italy, Urban Nature at the Gotesborg Konsthall, Gotesbotg,
Sweden, the Tirana Biennal and Greater New York at PS1 Cintemporary Art Center, Long
Island, New York. She works with Sara Meltzer Gallery in New York.
