Far more than a selection of one museum's works shown at another, the thrust here is to establish a rapport between two utterly disparate museum spaces and collections, spatially and temporally. The pieces do not adhere to a specific theme, but will survey the leading vectors of contemporary art practices from particular perspective of the Spanish museum. Works by: Ignasi Aballi', Pilar Albarracin, Aziz + Cucher, Andreas Gursky, Yasumasa Morimura, Zwelethu Mthethwa, Toni Ousler, Martin Sastre...

A careful selection of the MUSAC Collection comes to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes as a
guest invited to the home of another, in a remote location, calling it to coexist with museum
surroundings and a collection of a very different nature. The selected works from the
Collection will be shown in five- architectural and conceptual- different exhibition spaces.
Rather than focusing on one specific theme, the exhibition will survey contemporary art
practices from the particular perspective of this Spanish museum. This presentation of the
Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León in Buenos Aires is the first of a series of
actions which MUSAC aims to develop during the next years in order to create an artistic and
cultural web on both sides of the Atlantic. The thrust of this project in Buenos Aires is to
present an atypical sort of collection, a distinct type of museum, in a city with a solid
connection to modernity; a city increasingly bound to us on a cultural level. This project has
been developed with the collaboration of AECID and CCEBA (Centro Cultural de España en
Buenos Aires).
HUÉSPED. MUSAC Collection at MNBA: The Exhibition
Far more than a selection of one museum’s works shown at another, the thrust here is to
establish a rapport between two utterly disparate museum spaces and collections, spatially
and temporally. Five distinct spaces shall house a selection of works from the MUSAC
Collection. The pieces do not adhere to a specific theme, but will survey the leading vectors of
contemporary art practices from particular perspective of the Spanish museum.
At the MNBA, the Collection will be displayed throughout the museum from the street
entrance to the exterior hall, allowing the viewer to encounter samples of its works within a
classic museum setting. The foyer, the museum itself, the cabinet, the exhibition hall and
lastly, the auditorium, will all hold the works on display. The resulting juxtaposition will
certainly trigger a fresh understanding of the collection.
MUSAC is one of the most important contemporary European art museums of this decade.
Both its live connection with the present and the international character of its projects have
carved a specific niche for it among the newest museums of the Western world. MUSAC was
conceived at the beginning of 2003, with the adoption of a clear definition of content line and
collection structure.
