Carlos Garaicoa

Biblioteca Nacional, La Havana

The artist presents his documentary film 'The year of the raton', a tale about the lull existence of Havana's Chinatown. A neighborhood of aging streets and octogenarian men, a place for crossing by, a place to give a quick look and depart, that in its glorious past was a vital center for its inhabitants and a social and commercial spot in Havana's downtown. Through the use of documentary films, the artists included in this project, draw maps of Spanish and Latin-American cities regarding different people and social classes which are generally silenced and that never appear in tourist guides.
