La galleria A arte Invernizzi Seragiotto inaugura giovedì 8 ottobre 2009 alle ore 18.30 una mostra di due artisti di diversa generazione: Dadamaino e Francesco Candeloro.
Le opere, presentate negli spazi della galleria in ambienti separati ma paralleli, sono confrontabili sul piano della forma fino a diventare complementari nell’ambito della mostra.

“‘Sein und Zeit’ - ciclo di opere presentate in questa mostra - è l’ultimo ciclo tematico di Dadamaino, un titolo che richiama Heidegger e denota un diverso ordine di riflessioni a monte dell’opera stessa. Come se dai ‘Fatti della vita’ attraverso la coscienza del ‘Movimento delle Cose’ l’artista volesse arrivare al confronto con i grandi temi dell’Essere e del Tempo, passando, come del resto si conviene ad ogni processo conoscitivo degno di questo nome, dal contatto immediato con i fenomeni ad una loro osservazione scientifica e poi ad una sistematizzazione di ordine teorico. L’arte di Dadamaino in fondo è stato semplicemente (!!!) questo percorso, compiuto però sul piano dell’arte, della creazione artistica. La scienza e la filosofia hanno accompagnato la sua ricerca, senza che mai questa si esaurisse in quelle.”

“L’arte del giovane Candeloro si può invece raffigurare come un movimento di introiezione, come il passaggio di un esterno in un interno (...) L’attenzione dell’artista (...) si appropria, se mai, degli aspetti del mondo esterno, sotto forma di fotografie scattate nelle città che l’artista visita per i più diversi motivi, le città che costituiscono il luogo vero e ad un tempo il ‘topos’ della nostra immaginifica contemporaneità. Questa è infatti costituita principalmente da immagini, reali e virtuali ad un tempo, vere e finte ad un tempo, e di queste realtà doppie, ambigue per costituzione, l’artista si nutre con la determinazione di chi da esse vuole cogliere qualcosa che vada oltre il senso comune a cui sembrano allacciate.”

“Per fare questo, Candeloro usa alcune strategie (linguistiche) della trasparenza, ed ecco già un tratto se non comune almeno complementare rispetto alle strategie di Dadamaino: qui non segni, ma immagini, e molto ben connotate, ma anche una volontà di mettere in discussione tali connotazioni facendole letteralmente fluttuare nello spazio, coloratissime, come fluttuano le spire bianconere della maestra.
Ci sono più di una generazione a dividere Dadamaino da Candeloro, e molte scelte esplicite e ragioni intime; a unirli c’è invece una comune propensione a dubitare del senso comune, e a contestarlo in base ad una sana attitudine al sospetto. Che diventa forma, creazione di forme nuove, e questo è il bello dell’arte” così scrive Giorgio Verzotti nel saggio introduttivo del catalogo bilingue che verrà pubblicato in occasione della mostra.

On Thursday 8 October 2009 at 6.30 p.m., the A arte Invernizzi Seragiotto Gallery will open an exhibition of works by Dadamaino and Francesco Candeloro, two artists from different generations.
They are, however, comparable as regards form, even becoming complementary, at least within the confines of an exhibition. But it is also thanks to exhibitions and the comparisons these inevitably allow us to make - with the other works, with the space, and so on - that an artist’s work takes on new significance.

“Dadamaino’s last thematic cycle was entitled ‘Sein und Zeit’ (‘Being and Time’), recalling Heidegger’s ‘magnum opus’ and denoting a different kind of reflection preceding the work itself. It is as if from ‘I fatti della vita’ (‘The Facts of Life’), passing through the awareness of the ‘Movimento delle cose’ (‘Movement of the Things’), the artist wanted to arrive at a comparison with the great themes of Being and Time, passing - as befits every cognitive process worthy of this name - from immediate contact with phenomena to their scientific observation and then their theoretical systemization. Dadamaino’s art was, after all, simply (!!!) this path, followed, however, on the level of artistic creation. Science and philosophy accompanied her art, although it was never limited to these.”

“The art of Candeloro can instead be described as a movement of introjection, as in the transition from an exterior to an interior (...) The artist’s attention (...) is focused neither on the feelings of the unconscious nor on any inner world: if anything, he takes possession of the aspects of the outside world in the form of photographs taken in the cities he visits for a variety of reasons - the cities that constitute the true locus and, at the same time, the ‘topos’ of the image-rich contemporary world. The latter is, in fact, mainly constituted by images that are both real and virtual, and true and false, and the artist nurtures himself with the these double realities, which are ambiguous by their very nature, with the determination of he who seeks to understand something that goes beyond the common sense to which they are apparently linked.”

“In order to do this, Candeloro uses a number of (linguistic) strategies of transparency, and here we have a feature that, if not in common, is at least complementary with regard to Dadamaino’s strategies. Here they are not signs, but images, and very well connoted, but there is also a desire to question these connotations by making them literally float in space, colourfully, just as Dadamaino’s black and white coils float.
Dadamaino and Candeloro are separated by a difference of over a generation, as well as many explicit choices and intimate reasons; linking them, however, is a shared inclination to doubt common sense and to challenge it thanks to a healthy tendency to be suspicious. And this becomes form - or rather, the creation of new forms - and this is the beauty of art.”
This is what Giorgio Verzotti has written in the introductory essay to the bilingual catalogue that will be published on the occasion of the exhibition, with photographs of the works on display and updated bio-bibliographical notes.
