The artist Herbert Boeckl numbers among the chief exponents of Austrian Modern Art. His oeuvre encompasses the period from the First World War to the 1960s, and his views on art and aesthetics - both as a painter and director of the Vienna Academy of Fine arts - were influential for the generation of Austrian artists after 1945. The Belvedere is going to devote a comprehensive retrospective to Herbert Boeckl, documenting his prolific oeuvre by means of 120 works.
