Following Water-Currents the Museum of Photography, Thessaloniki presents its second exhibition of the series "The four elements of nature and man". The structure is the same with Water-Currents which was shown last year; on the one part the works presented are a selection from the Prix Pictet and on the other part the works are by Greek and foreign artists who use earth as a means of creation like Romain Girtgen, Darren Almond, Nadav Kander, Elina Brotherus, Christopher Anderson, Sammy Baloji. Curated by Gabriel Bauret and Vangelis Ioakimidis.

Following “Water-Currents” the Museum of Photography, Thessaloniki presents its second exhibition of the series “The four elements of nature and man” entitled “Earth-Tracks”. The structure is the same with “Water-Currents” which was shown last year; on the one part the works presented are a selection from the Prix Pictet and on the other part the works are by Greek and foreign artists who use earth as a means of creation.
The Prix Pictet section includes works drawn from the four corners of the world, chronicle the often devastating results of our interventions for urban and other sorts of geopolitical exploitation. Here we are presented with the twelve shortlisted photographers of the Prix Pictet.
On the other part the works deal with historicity, globalisation, beauty – not just natural but rather staged by man – as well as with the environment itself as an original material of creation. The intrinsic relationship which relates the artists to earth and the perspective they select to observe what surrounds us function as the elements which characterise their work and their style.
