International Recycling Art Festival of Catalonia
The International Recycling Art Festival of Catalonia arrives in Barcelona, celebrating its 6th edition in the current format. This year, among the more than 300 projects received 100 have been selected, and together with the guests there are over 150 participants. Among the proposal is the installation Retroprogres by the Majorcan artist Carles Gispert, able to convert five cars into plant containers that can be seen in the streets of Barcelona, or the unique sculptures created by the London artist Hannah Greenaway, weaving and fusing plastic bags from the supermarket. Other unique works in Drap-Art'09 are the Sofa SEAT 600 by the Catalans Jesus and Carles Bel, an exclusive piece, an example of art integrated in very different disciplines, or the Skin shoe by the artist from Valencia Elisa Garrote, created from the skins of the oranges, of her home city, old shoe soles and laces, to raise environmental awareness through fine arts and recycling. The festival continues its collaboration with FICMA, Internacional Festival of Environmental Cinema, participating once again in the festival projecting a selection of the best films of its 2009 edition. The venues are the CCCB (Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona) and public spaces.
