The exhibition traces the of the important modern artistic movement through a series of great masterpieces on loan from the Musee d'Orsay. In the 1870s, Impressionism, academicism, decorativism, symbolism and other schools all coexisted in Paris, and that rich diversity of styles is reflected in this show to further underscore the triunph of the new art. Manet became the narrative thread of this movement's history, embodying all its merit and contradictions. Monet is presented as the great virtuoso, Renoir emerges as the most sensual, Pissarro and Cezanne emphasise the structural solidity of their cpmpositions, while Dagas's canvases almost seem to be the snapshots of modern life.
