The images of Valade are an overkill of colour and figures. There is an explosion of colours and a great variety of figures. The theme 'interiors with figures' is a theme well known in the painting of the 17th and the 18th century. The theme is rather bizarre, since one sometimes did not know if one should concentrate on the figures or on the interiors.
At first sight, the images of Aurore Valade are an overkill of colour and figures. There is an explosion of colours and a great variety of figures. The theme is rather bizarre, since one sometimes did not know if one should concentrate on the figures or on the interiors.
Take for exemple the pictures of Vermeer or Velasquez. Aurore valade wants to show us a new kind of interaction between figures and interiors. Of course, contemporary photography is an ideal means of restructuring and putting figures and items in a different place and perspective to create a new reality. The photographs are as like a collection of rare biologicial artifacts , of rare items.
It is as if Aurore Valade wants to show us the extreme richness of human society, like a sociological study. On the other side, the pictures seem very 'natural" , even in the extreme disorder she creates. These strange "restructured" artifacts make their own statement. Even as if the images seem extremely "false", the figures have an unique reality
