'Today's Man' is an exhibition of mostly small works on paper and canvas (paintings, collages, drawings etc. but no photography) and consists solely of representations of men by male artists. The relatively small scale of the works (almost all are less than 18 x 18 inches) is a purposeful inversion of what one might normally associate with the stereotype of the patriarchal grand canvas. The sole sculpture in the exhibition, a deceptively traditional looking bronze bust of a man with a deceptively large nose, by Marco Boggio Sella commands the center of the gallery and offers an interesting counterpoint to the small scale of the works that line the wall. The exhibition brings together over 45 emerging and established artists to create an ambiguous dialogue about the frenetic /kinetic state of contemporary masculinity.
