comunicato stampa

The F-EST open weekends aim to introduce visitors and local people to the proliferation of art projects in the East End. Over the weekend almost 80 participating galleries and museums will be open later than usual, entry will be free, and many will also host special events. The F-EST map is the area's most comprehensive guide, helping visitors discover art venues and places of interest.

A focal part of the F-EST weekends are the guided walking tours that aim to provide an introduction to some of the galleries taking part. Most tours last roughly three hours, but there is also a longer tour, including lunch, for die-hard art fanatics.

The second F-EST open weekend (17-19 October 2003) will link with the Frieze Art Fair taking place in Regents Park on the same weekend by running a free shuttle-bus service between the two locations. The service, supported by the Arts Council of England, will bring visitors from the art fair to the cutting edge galleries of the East End, and vice versa, and give both Londoners and international visitors a chance to experience more contemporary art than ever before.

GUIDED WALKING TOURS
A selection of fifteen guided walking tours for tourists and Londoners have been prepared for our second open galleries weekend, a response to the sell-out success of last year's four walking tours. The guided walking tours are organised by Artwise Curators, and aim to provide an introduction to the many East End galleries taking part. Each walk will provide a tour of around five or six galleries, with an experienced guide providing details about each gallery, and answering questions about the art works on show. Most tours will last roughly two to two and a half hours, but there will also be one longer tour, including lunch.

The following Walking Tours will start from F-EST HQ at the Tea Building: Introduction to Hoxton (long tour) , Kingsland Road, Old Street, Rivington Street, Shoreditch, Spitalfields. All other tours start at the first gallery on the list.. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time
