Theatre in Motion. The aim of the Festival is to create a platform for Video Art in China. The focus lies on Chinese video art, but international artists are invited to join discussion, thus generating interaction and exchange. During the 4-day festival period, Video Art will be shown in all its different identities and expressions: short film, documentary, one minute film, animation, video installation, etc.

Theatre in Motion, Platform China and partners are proud to announce the first edition of the Borderline Video Art Festival taking place on various locations in Beijing, from June 22nd to June 25th 2006.

The aim of the Borderline Video Festival is to create a platform for Video Art in China. The focus lies on Chinese video art, but international artists are invited to join discussion, thus generating interaction and exchange. Through a call for entry, Chinese and international artists have been invited to create new video work for the festival. We were happy to receive a large number of entries, and the most interesting works are integrated in the festival’s program.

During the 4-day festival period, Video Art will be shown in all its different identities and expressions: short film, documentary, one minute film, animation, video installation, music, performance art, new media and so on. A total of 13 events will be organized in 7 different venues scattered over the 798 Art District, the Caochangdi Art Community and the Central Academy of Fine Arts, as well in public spaces. Events ranging from small interventions and installations over performances to lectures and two group exhibitions. The documents in attachment outlines more details on the program and the artistic set-up of the festival.

The festival has been organized in collaboration with: offiCina, Thinking Hands, Caochangdi Workstation, South Gate Space, Beijing Cubic Art Center, One Minutes Foundation, Timezone8, UnAids, City Weekend Beijing, The Central Academy of Fine Arts, the Courtisane Video Festival in Ghent, Belgium and *l’UnaOtra*.
