POINTS OF DEPARTURE

In the coming years, the Boulevard wishes to raise the bar in an artistic sense. The blueprint for the period 2001-2004 has three main features: New, Renowned and Encounters. The Boulevard defines 'New' as striking producers who have only been in the field for a short time, many of whom are still on the road to success and haven't fully 'arrived' yet. The definition also includes new art forms and idioms. 'Renowned' means the established companies that don't rest between newspaper cuttings full of rave reviews. Finally, Encounters. Or in other words: the dialogue between the producers and the audience, between the producers themselves and between the different genres - although the latter word is well on its way to becoming an archaic expression.

FESTIVAL PROGRAMME 2001 IN A NUTSHELL

Within the framework of the Jeroen Bosch Year 2001, the Boulevard is paying attention to the late medieval painter Bosch who lived and worked in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Other highlights:

La Fura dels Baus - 'ØBS'
Multimedia production about successors to the throne who crave power, sex and violence. Raw theatre, music and three-dimensional live video images, in which the Catalonian company gives a wink to Macbeth.

Spanish composer and musician Carles Santos tickles the senses with his unorthodox and surrealistic operas. A storm of new music, film, dance, play and design. Theater Tol - 'Corazon d'Oro'
Game of music, theatre and dance in which Flemish athletes prepare for the Olympics.

The winners of the VSCD Mime Award 2000 invite the audience to their party tent where a wedding party gets completely out of hand.
