comunicato stampa

SLICK Brussels – the new contemporary art fair created by SLICK, the SLICK Paris fair organizers since 2006 – will welcome for its first edition 46 international galleries. The fair is taking place from April 20 to 22 (preview on April 19, by invitation only) at the Wild Gallery in Brussels, Belgium.

SLICK PROJECTS or large-scale projects will also punctuate the space between gallery stands that will be showcasing the works of over 200 artists, in both collective and solo shows.

Michelin Star awarded French chef Christophe Pelé will be setting up an ephemeral restaurant, inviting visitors to prolong their visual experience with a culinary treat.

In a very short period of time, SLICK Paris has become a not-to-be-missed forum for discovering new artistic talents. SLICK Paris and now SLICK Brussels propose a new type of fair: this “other fair” is an ambitious alternative, an event on a human scale, which symbolizes a passion for art, and allows for the exploration of tomorrow’s values.

On average 17,000 visitors visit the Parisian contemporary art fair, which also welcomes approximately forty galleries in a given year. SLICK Paris was first in the Bellevilloise space (2006, 2007), then at the CentQuatre -104 (2008, 2009), followed by the Palais de Tokyo and Modern Art Museum of Paris Esplanade (2010, 2011).

THE SLICK PROJECTS
Launched by art critic and SLICK artistic director Laurent Boudier in 2011, the SLICK Projects section is being further developed in Brussels in 2012.

SLICK Projects will showcase 18 large format works and personal projects of contemporary artists, inscribed within the circuit of 45 stands representing the SLICK Brussels galleries. Installations, sculptures, paintings or videos, this selection will allow visitors and art collectors to discover artworks that are often beyond the traditional format on view in a fair.

SLICK Projects expresses, on a grand scale, the dynamic nature of the current international contemporary art scene.

Prix Canson® in Brussels for the first time

The Fonds Canson® pour l’Art et le Papier will be presenting the work of the Prix Canson winner Ronald Cornelissen at Slick Brussels.

As a Slick’s partner for the third consecutive year, the Fonds Canson® pour l’Art et le Papier has chosen to come to the first Belgium edition of the fair which will take place at the Wild Gallery in Brussels from 20 to 22 of April 2012. It will be presenting the Dutch artist Ronald Cornelissen, the winner of Prix Canson® 2011.

The objective of the Prix Canson created in 2010 by the Fonds Canson pour l’ Art et le Papier is to encourage, to support and to reward an artist for featuring meaningful research in the universe of Art and Paper. A jury composed of key figures from the art world and chaired by Gérard Garouste has consequently awarded the Prize to the artist Ronald Cornelissen. As a result, he has enjoyed higher visibility in the media. His work has also been showcased in two famous contemporary art fairs, amongst which Slick Brussels.
