comunicato stampa

Ed. Varie is pleased to present INSTANT DUST, a solo-exhibition of new and recent work by artist Nathaniel Russell.

Employing a variety of media, Russell explores imaginary and abstract themes in his art practice. Russell creates mysterious figures, inspirational imagery, and references to our common subconscious connections through painting, drawing, print-making and sculpture. Russell’s figurative work is popularly recognized for its illustrative and gestural charm, often accompanied by one word mantras or personal mottos that are as humorous as they are inspirational.

The exhibition INSTANT DUST is about space and people’s place in it. Russell brings us large scale painting, watercolor, and silk-screen works on paper, a multi-dimensional installation, and fine art lithography prints made in collaboration with master printer Max Stadnik on the Ed. Varie Press in Berkeley, CA.

Russell’s work has traveled the globe with group and solo-exhibitions in Australia, Belgium, England, France, Japan and Mexico. Stateside exhibitions include Chicago, IL; Durham, NC; Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA. Russell debuted his “Fake Books” sculptural works within a group installation, READING ROOM, at Ed. Varie in 2010. Russell was awarded the Art Park Atlantic Residency in Byron Bay, Australia in 2011. Nathaniel Russell lives and works Indianapolis, Indiana.
