An Early Hong Kong Chinese Library and Museum
Completed in 1932, the Fung Ping Shan Building was originally designed as
the University's Chinese book library. The Library, named after its donor
the late Mr Fung Ping Shan, moved to the main library building in 1962. The
collections of the University Museum and Art Gallery, formerly known as the
Fung Ping Shan Museum, were established in the building in 1953. This year
marks the 50th and 70th anniversaries of the Museum and the Library
respectively. This exhibition aims at showing their development in the Fung
Ping Shan Building. On display will be rare books of the library collection
as well as early documents, photographs, equipment and furniture used by the
Library and Museum in the last few decades.
