Pinta NY

7 West, New York

Sixth edition. A unique event to discover the best of contemporary and modern Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese Art. Over 75 art galleries and magazines from the Americas and Europe showcase an exciting range of works by established and emerging artists.

comunicato stampa

PINTA is a unique event exhibiting annually for sale through the participating galleries the best of Latin American art, coinciding with Christie's and Sotheby's Latin American art auctions and with important exhibitions in museums and cultural institutions in New York City.
The fair organizers have invited the most prestigious galleries from the United States, Latin America and Europe to participate in this event. Thus, PINTA will be an exclusive fair which will include the participation of fifty select art galleries showing museum-quality works representative of abstract, concrete, neo-concrete, kinetic and conceptual art, as well as of other contemporary art movements.

Over seventy five art galleries and magazines from the Americas and Europe showcase an exciting range of works by established and emerging Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese artists.

This is an opportunity to experience the sophisticated, international and most distinguished visual art from Latin America, Spanish and Portuguese through museum-quality works representative of abstract, concrete, neo-concrete, kinetic and conceptual art.

Every year at PINTA, visitors, galleries, artists, collectors, curators, and institutions will strengthen their existing knowledge and develop new connections with the Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese Art world.

After five editions in New York City, PINTA is back from November 15 to 18.

Since their creation, the objective of Pinta New York and Pinta London, the only fairs devoted to Latin American art outside Latin America, has been to articulate the means necessary to achieve a better diffusion of art in the region through the market and by supporting proposals which increase the knowledge of this art.
Aware of the importance of the role of museums and institutional collections in the validation and diffusion of art that we propose, the Pinta Acquisitions Program was established during the first edition of Pinta in New York, later in London and continues to date. This program, in which Pinta invites museums with an interest in Latin American art to participate, acted as an incentive for the incorporation of works in their collections on the basis of funds provided by Pinta, by the museums themselves, and by patrons. These works are selected by the respective curators from among those exhibited at the show and acquired to form part of the museum’s patrimony.
In this way, works for a total value of over a million dollars were acquired through this program, in which some museums like the Museo Tamayo, the MALI, the MALBA, the Pinacoteca of the State of Sao Paulo, the MOMA, the MFA Houston, the MFA Boston, the Harvard Art Museum, El Museo del Barrio, the Centre Pompidou and Tate Modern, among others, have participated.

For the sixth edition of Pinta NY in November 2012, we have invited:
Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York
Whitney Museum of American Art, New York
Museo de Arte de Ponce, Puerto Rico

This event is public and offers an opportunity for understanding, in situ, the processes of curatorial selection and the incorporation of artworks in museum collections.

The official catalogue of Pinta Show features a detailed profile of each exhibiting gallery and original artwork commissioned exclusively for Pinta.
