Threadneedle Street, London

Elements. The exhibition presents his new series of large-scale bronze sculptures.

comunicato stampa

A major solo exhibition of new works will be revealed by leading British sculptor Charles Hadcock on Thursday 5 June, at 60 Threadneedle Street in the City of London. Elements presents the continuance of Hadcock’s rich and dynamic artistic experimentation over the past three decades. Hadcock has gained international acclaim through his powerful monumental sculptures. which are frequently displayed at prestigious locations including; Sotheby’s Chatsworth House exhibition Beyond Limits; the critically acclaimed Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice; and London’s buzzing commercial centre Canary Wharf. Hadcock engages diverse audiences across the globe.

For Elements, Hadcock has produced an exquisitely crafted new series of large-scale bronze sculptures in his studio. The artist’s beautifully engineered objects initiate dynamic interplay between weight and weightlessness, and the form and the space with which it engages. For Hadcock nature and industry are ‘essential elements’, which when combined conjure ‘a distinct atmosphere of mechanical ingenuity with an empathy for natural phenomena’.

Fusing his longstanding exploration of material primacy and geometry with a radical and innovative creative process, Hadcock’s cast metal sculptures are as mathematically nuanced, as they are physically direct.

‘Hadcock seamlessly retains both the organic and mechanical sources of inspiration which enhances the sculpture’s overall artistic beauty.’ Simon Stock, Sotheby’s, Senior Director & Specialist, Impressionist & Modern Art

The exhibition also marks an exciting new collaboration between Charles Hadcock and Encounter Fine Art, an innovative company with a growing reputation for approaching the contemporary art world with a fresh outlook. Encounter conceives projects with cutting-edge contemporary artists including a previous winner of Saatchi Gallery’s New Sensations; artists who have exhibited at the Venice Biennale; and others who are in the permanent collection of the Tate.

Already this year Encounter have been involved with the VIP Programme of the critically acclaimed Art 14, with a talk on emerging Korean artists, and curated exhibitions at internationally acclaimed members clubs Sketch and Broadway House. With the Charles Hadcock exhibition, Encounter are set for what promises to be their most exciting collaboration yet.

At the heart of the City of London, framed in the windows of Threadneedle Street, Hadcock’s Exhibition will run from June 6th until the end of August. 60 Threadneedle Street is a St Martins property curated by VJB Arts. The exhibition is curated by Vanessa Brady.
