The feeling of light. Part sensual, part associative and part poetic, various answers are provided by sculptures, installations and films, photographs, music and performance. The works on display date from the 1920s to the present.
What is light? How do we perceive it? The exhibition BLUE MOON — THE FEELING OF LIGHT is dedicated to feeling the phenomenon of light.
Select works from the Sammlung HGN enter into an exciting dialogue with representative loan items and explore the question of our relationship with light and darkness. Part sensual, part associative and part poetic, various answers are provided by sculptures, installations and films, photographs, music and performance. Internationally renowned and promising young artists illuminate this central aspect of human life together. The works on display date from the 1920s to the present.
A tour is experienced as a journey through night to the break of dawn, an exploration of countless shades – from darkness to light. From diffuse twilight to the black of night, from the security of seeing to the uncertainty of being seen, from enlightenment to the interplay of presence and absence, fullness and emptiness, something and nothing: The relationship of light and feeling becomes perceptible.
