32 nd Edition - Exhibitions, conferences, debates
The 32nd FIAC will take place from October 6th to October 10th in halls 4 and 5.1 of the Parc des Expositions, Porte de Versailles. Some 227 galleries, almost a quarter of them (47) new to FIAC, will exhibit. 26 countries will be represented by 113 foreign galleries and 99 from France.
FIAC 2005 will be marked by: the development of Perspectives (9 new galleries of which 7 are from outside France) and Future Quake (11 new galleries of which 8 are from outside France); the second edition of a high-level and extremely selective design section introduced in 2004 (10 galleries of which one is a first-time participant); a new section dedicated to film, video and new media.
FIAC 2005 will also present an intensified programme of on-site events (conferences and debates; an exhibition of the 4 candidates short-listed for the Marcel Duchamp Prize) accompanied by an impressive calendar of outside events organized in collaboration with Paris’ major cultural institutions, together with numerous private collectors, business people, corporate collections and galleries...

Special Events
Citroën, official partner of Fiac 2005, is present at the fair celebrating the 50th anniversary of an avant-garde symbol of the 20th century…its mythic DS.
Divided up between the two halls, two exhibition spaces retrace the history of the automobile that inspired many artists; a car that has ranked Citroën for all time as the industrial pioneer of design worldwide.
For the first time, FIAC join forces with the the Marcel Duchamp Prize and feature an exhibition of the 4 artists who have been nominated for the award: Kader Attia (video, installation), Gilles Barbier (drawing, installation), Olivier Blanckart (photography, installation) and Claude Closky (multi-media and new technologies).
The winner of the 2005 Marcel Duchamp Prize will be officially announced at FIAC on Saturday October 8th.

Conferences at Fiac 2005
The “Forum†bring together artists, intellectuals, exhibition curators, collectors and art critics in a series of debates and conferences focusing on the major evolutions of contemporary creation, together with current transformations in the art market.
The program is organized around three principal themes: an in-depth exploration of three emerging art scenes (the Balkans, India and Brazil); the relationships between the visual arts and cinema, and between the visual arts and architecture; the examination of current practices in the field of private collecting through a series of discussions with prominent international art collectors invited to FIAC.
