That’s Design! nasce per promuovere e dare visibilita' al mondo dei giovani designer emergenti come asset strategico nel mercato del design globale proponendosi come vetrina e fucina creativa e osservatorio del design in tutte le sue forme e provenienze. L’evento e' nato dalla partnership fra tre importanti realta' operanti nel campo del design milanese ed internazionale.

DOMUS ACADEMY
Nasce a Milano nel 1982 come progetto aperto attorno all'esperienza italiana del Design e della Moda.
Nel corso degli anni si afferma come luogo internazionale di formazione post-universitaria e centro di ricerca e consulenza sui temi dell'innovazione nel progetto.

POLI.DESIGN, FACOLTÀ DEL DESIGN E DIPARTIMENTO INDACO DEL POLITECNICO DI MILANO
Il Politecnico di Milano è dal 1865 un luogo di formazione all’avanguardia, punto di incontro tra cultura architettonica e ingegneria. E’ dal 1993 che è stato istituito all’interno dell’ateneo il primo corso di laurea in design italiano a livello universitario. Oggi il sistema design del Politecnico di Milano è costituito da tre diverse strutture che operano nella didattica e nella ricerca in diversi campi: la Facoltà del Design è attiva nella didattica istituzionale; il Dipartimento INDACO (Industrial Design, Arti, Comunicazione e Moda) nella ricerca e il Consorzio POLIdesign nella ricerca applicata e nella formazione permanente.

ZONA TORTONA
Progetto di marketing territoriale che negli ultimi cinque anni ha fatto della zona milanese compresa tra Pta.Genova e Via Solari il polo di riferimento per la creatività, il design e la moda. In modo particolare durante la settimana del Fuorisalone è riconosciuta a livello internazionale come il più interessante circuito cittadino di manifestazioni parallelo ai ‘Saloni’.

THAT’S DESIGN! è un evento dal forte respiro internazionale che vede protagonisti i giovani e le realtà accademiche di tutto il mondo, il tutto presentato nel luogo più prestigioso e affermato del panorama del fuorisalone milanese: Zona Tortona.

L’evento si presenta come prima edizione di un’iniziativa che intende crescere e svilupparsi negli anni e che diventerà un format esportabile in altri contesti.

A new event-container aimed at proposing an exhibition of the most important design schools worldwide and of the young emerging designers during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile (International Furniture Fair) from 18 to 23 of April 2007: a window, where universities, academies and young professionals will have the chance to present themselves through their projects, products and creative ideas. That’s Design! is born to promote and present the world of young emerging designers as a strategic asset in the global design market, by proposing the event as a window and creative lab to design and to understand the design in all its forms and origins. The event was born out of the partnership between three important realities operating in the field of Milanese and international design.

DOMUS ACADEMY
Founded in Milan in 1982 as an open project around the Italian experience of Design and Fashion Design. Throughout the years it asserted as an international institution for post-graduate education and as a research and consultancy centre on the themes of project innovation.

POLITECNICO DI MILANO
Since 1865, the Politecnico di Milano is an avant-garde university, a meeting point for the architectonic and engineering culture. In 1993, Politecnico di Milano established the first design course at university level in Italy. Nowadays, the Politecnico design system is made up of three structures which operate in different education and research fields: the Facoltà del Design is active in institutional education; the INDACO Department (Industrial Design, Arts, Communication and Fashion) works in the research field; the POLI.design Consortium operates in the field of applied research, of permanent training and publishing.

ZONA TORTONA
Territorial marketing project that in the last five years has developed the area between Pta.Genova and Via Solari into a focal point of the creativity, design and fashion design. Particularly during the week of the Fuorisalone, it is internationally acknowledged as the most interesting itinerary of events parallel to the ‘Salone’.

That’s Design! is an event with a strong international character that sees young designers and worldwide academic realities as protagonists. The location will be the prestigious Zona Tortona®, renowned in the Milanese context of the Fuorisalone. The event is presented as the first edition of an initiative that intends to grow and develop throughout the years and that will become a format to export in other contexts.

That’s Design! will be the great novelty of Fuorisalone 2007. From 18 to 23 April 2007: 7 days of exhibitions, events, meetings. The event is held at Superstudio13 and Industria Superstudio in the heart of Zona Tortona®. The exhibiting surface is located inside an ex industrial area of approximately 1800m2.

That’s Design! is the event devoted to the international design schools which, during the Milan’s Salone del Mobile, will converge from 12 different countries into the Superstudio 13 and Industria Superstudio locations.

That’s Design! represents a great international far-reaching occasion of visibility for universities, academies and young professionals; a meeting opportunity for companies and young designers.

Spread over approximately 1.800 sq.mt., more than 20 among the most prestigious design schools, coming from all over the world, will be exhibited in a setting devoted to those who interpret Design today and trasform it into products, that is the new Design generation.

That’s Design! intends to be an event to support young talents and reflect the values such as innovation, dynamism, internationality, creativity, research and experimentation.

That’s Design! wants to present to the public an event with a strong communication and emotional impact, in order to stress its characteristics of novelty and freshness.
