comunicato stampa

The National Sculpture Society is pleased to present the Fellows Invitational at the organization's headquarters in the Park Avenue Atrium at 237 Park Avenue/466 Lexington Avenue, in midtown Manhattan. Opening on Monday, July 16, the Invitational features the figurative works of forty elected Fellow members of the Society.

The Fellows Invitational showcases the sculpture of some of National Sculpture Society's finest artists. The works on display reflect the variety of styles, backgrounds and disciplines of the exhibiting sculptors. Highlights of the show include a life-size welded copper turkey; a hand-carved walnut sea crab; maquettes of national monuments; basreliefs of varying dimension and breadth; and bronze and marble figures of human and animal forms. Fellow membership is the highest level of achievement in National Sculpture Society. NSS Fellows must be nominated by a rigorous set of standards set forth by their peers. Fellows (FNSS), Elected Members (NSS), and Associates comprise the bulk of the organization which is international in scope and appeal. National Sculpture Society is a not-for-profit organization which supports excellence in sculpture through various educational programs including scholarships and grants for emerging artists.

Sculptors featured in the exhibition include: Bunny Adelman, George R. Anthonisen, Anthony Antonios, Jane Armstrong, Richard Blake, Fred X. Its members have created much of this country’s public sculpture, coins, and medals since the late 1800s. It is the oldest organization of professional sculptors in the United States, and has been hosting exhibitions for over a century.
