Call for applications
The two-year, 60-credit-hour MFA in Information Design and Visualization is an interdisciplinary program that trains students in harnessing visual languages to support the discovery and communication of information across a range of socially relevant issues. We seek applicants from diverse backgrounds who are interested in exploring data, visual and auditory design, perception and creative inquiry. Both practicing professionals and recent undergraduates in fields such as architecture, graphic design, journalism, business, the humanities and sciences are welcome to apply. The program, built upon a core of graphic and interaction design, has established collaborations with numerous cutting-edge research initiatives in the Boston area, including digital humanities initiatives such as the NULab for Texts, Maps and Networks, the Center for Complex Network Research (Professor Albert-Laszlo Barabasi), the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy, as well as research initiatives on Computational Social Science (Professor David Lazer). Applications received by February 1 will have priority for fall 2015 admission. Applications received after that date will be reviewed in the order received, space permitting. Detailed application and portfolio requirements can be found on the program website.
