A two-day conference focusing on the history of the Istanbul Biennial and manifesting the first public part of 12th Istanbul Biennial
Remembering Istanbul is a two-day conference focusing on the history of the Istanbul Biennial and manifesting the first public part of 12th Istanbul Biennial. Over the last 2 decades the Istanbul Biennial has become one of the most prominent international biennials due to the consistently unique character of its exhibitions. The curators who have organised the exhibitions in the past attest the broad range of visions that this biennial has attempted to encompass, from South to North, from East to West, from emerging and established curators to curatorial collectives. Remembering Istanbul has invited all curators from past biennials to participate in the conference and to each give a presentation, remembering their experiences and providing their afterthoughts on their respective biennial exhibitions as well as the current state of the biennial exhibition format itself. Artists from Turkey who participated in the biennial and have witnessed its development will respond to the presentations. A book with all contributions will be published at the opening of the 12th Istanbul Biennial. For more information visit the dedicated web site.
