VSA arts of Florida Creative Solutions Institute
The YOUTH DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE ARTS seminar focuses on using
the arts to work with youth who are at risk or already in the
juvenile justice system.
Grady Hillman, technical assistance program coordinator for the
Arts Programs for Juvenile Offenders in Detention and Corrections,
a joint initiative of the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) and
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) will
facilitate this Institute with Bill Strickland, President and CEO
of Pittsburgh's Manchester Craftsman's Guild/ Bidwell Training
Center as the keynote speaker.
Concurrent Sessions will include six programs from the Juvenile
Offenders in Detention and Correction Facilities, Partnership
Project of the NEA and the OJJDP, U.S. Department of Justice from
California, Washington, New York and Texas, on Tuesday June 27.
Over 50 model programs in music, dance, drama and the visual arts
will be presented on Wednesday, June 28th including special
sessions on adaptive strategies for youth with disabilities and
other best practices for community, school and juvenile justice
settings.
VSA arts of Florida is a non profit organization based at
University of South Florida and accredited by VSA arts, as
affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in
Washington, D. C.
