Blurring Boundaries and Bridging Gaps
Speakers: Wendy Woon (Museum of Modern Art, New York), Rixt Hulshoff Pol (Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam), Daniela Perez (Independent Curator, Mexico City), Hilde ostergaard (Kunsthallen Nicolaj, Copenhagen), Gunhild Varvin (Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Oslo) and Dagny Stuedahl (Professor at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences). This symposium will give insight into how practices from the field of communication and education are increasingly being used in museums today to reach different publics.The invited speakers will explore contradictions, challenges and opportunities in adapting new tools for mediating and communicating contemporary art. The symposium day will culminate in the official opening of Norwegian artist Marte Johnslien's project Forms of Protest, and marks the conclusion of a series of eight commissioned works made possible by a generous grant from the DNB Savings Bank Foundation.
