Artist's black wall reliefs that are polished to a high finish and of gently flowing shape will immediately catch the viewers' attention and let the showroom appear like a futuristic scenery. The pieces that look like a mixture of sport equipment, design object and machine only open up their function through a direct interaction between themselves and the viewer.
White Square Gallery is presenting “headbang”, new works by Norwegian artist
Camilla Dahl (*1971, Oslo) from March 20th to May 8th 2010.
Her black wall reliefs that are polished to a high finish and of gently flowing shape will
immediately catch the viewers’ attention and let the showroom appear like a futuristic
scenery.
Camilla Dahl’s works – as the titles indicate - are very personal invitations to interact:
“Close your Eyes, Open your Mouth”,
“Get Down on your Knees, Put your Hands on your Head” or
“Raise your Arm and Make a Fist”.
The pieces that look like a mixture of sport equipment, design object and machine only
open up their function through a direct interaction between themselves and the viewer.
Camilla Dahl’s intention is to even out the natural distance between art piece and art
recipient.
Camilla Dahl was born in Oslo in 1971. Recent group exhibitions include “Der Strich II”,
Berlin (2009), “pro forma” at Künstlerhaus Dortmund (2009), as well as “Zeigen” curated
by Karin Sander at Temporäre Kunsthalle, Berlin (2009). Camilla Dahl lives and works in
Oslo and Berlin.
