This exhibition of works by three generations of women artists explores issues ranging from the body and sexuality to architecture, incorporating a vocabulary of abstract forms. Among the artists featured are Louise Bourgeois, Gego, Mona Hatoum, Yayoi Kusama, and Anna Maria Maiolino, all of whom the Museum has collected in depth.

New acquisitions on view for the first time at MoMA include Louise Bourgeois’s drawing Femme Maison (1947), sculpture, prints, and drawings by Alina Szapocznikow, and drawing and prints by Atsuko Tanaka. This installation is organized by Alexandra Schwartz, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Drawings, and Sarah Suzuki, The Sue and Eugene Mercy, Jr. Assistant Curator of Prints and Illustrated Books, The Museum of Modern Art.

This exhibition is presented in conjunction with MoMA’s publication of Modern Women: Women Artists at The Museum of Modern Art (June 2010), and is made possible by the Modern Women’s Fund.
