H Box
'H Box' is a mobile screening room in which important new commissioned works by eight international video artists are shown. Designed by artist and architect Didier Fiuza Faustino and curator Benjamin Weil, 'H Box' has been presented in exhibition institutions around the world. The 6.5-meter-long box is equipped with the latest video screening technology and can seat ten viewers at a time. At the Fondation Beyeler, works by Cliff Evans, Ali Kazma, Mark Lewis, Matthew Buckingham, Rosa Barba, Cao Fei, Shahryar Nashat, and Julika Rudelius are on view.
'H Box' is a multifunctional object in which various allusions merge: a screening room, a traveling case, and a sort of modern cabinet of curiosities. It creates a specific context for the viewing of spectacular new single-channel videos by artists most of whom have lived and worked at various different places and thus often possess considerable knowledge about diverse cultural frames of reference and bases.
