The Oberland Performance Art Festival. Spatial transitions, borders, an the spaces between them won't be the only focus of the works of the invited video, light, action, intervention, movement and performance artists. Everything is possible to show territorial, social, media, and the artistical dissolution of borders, the pleasure of going beyond, or the shift in demarcation lines and limits.
Spatial transitions, borders, an the spaces between them won’t be the only focus of the works of the invited video, light, action, intervention, movement, and performance artists. Calm and shrill, cheerful and oppressive, intellectual and illustrative, mysterious and esthetical – everything is possible to show territorial, social, media, and the artistical dissolution of borders, the pleasure of going beyond, or the shift in demarcation lines and limits.
The Oberland Performance Art Festival - grenzART 1 - will take place from May 22nd to 24th, 2010 in and around the Werk IV as well as in open spaces of Kirschau.
The opening of the festival will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. Short welcoming speeches will be held by Tanja Böhme (Kulturraum Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien), Sven Gabriel (mayor of Kirschau) and Mike Salomon (obART-initiator). Furthermore a performance will show, what performance is and Jürgen Ulrich Fritz, accompanied by the musical school of the administrative district of Bautzen, will ring "the bell" until exhaustion. On opening day "Urfie" will announce the performances by yodeling. The after-show-party grenzDIELE will begin at 9 p.m. presenting the band "BlueXpress". Besides, S.Tempel as DJ will provide a pleasant musical setting.
On Sunday the performances will also begin at 2 p.m. Furthermore at 2 p.m. the Heimatverein Kirschau e.V. offers a guided tour through Kirschau. Destination will be the castle ruin Körse. The Körsemuseum is open to visitors during the afternoon. At 4 p.m. the Performance Research Project around BBB Johannes Deimling will show a performance at the Körse. on Sunday grenzDIELE will also start at 9 p.m. with the Universal Druckluft Orchester from Dresden and DJ S.Tempel behind the turntable.
On Monday a soccer match artists vs. SV Großpostwitz-Kirschau will be carried out at 3:00 p.m. Afterwards the finishing party grenzAUFLÖSUNG will begin at 6 p.m. In addition to Sven Vetter, who will play the theremin, artists, musicians and visitors are welcome to join the "open stage". During the last evening of the festival borders are to be dissolved and in interaction of artists, musicians and visitors new ones will be set.
Furthermore on June 19th there will be "Trikick", an intervention of the artist Sandro Porcu. "Trikick" is an after play of - grenzART 1 - during the World Cup.
Werk IV
Until five years ago, the 'Werk IV' was a factory for coarse yarn. Since 2004 the impressing industrial complex remained unused.
The artists will be provided with spaces, halls and open areas of different size in and around the Werk IV, with the purpose of modulating them artistically or using them as a place of presentation for their work.
