Aria Spinelli & Matteo Lucchetti

Il 15 giugno Radical Intention chiude il progetto Things Can Change Quickly invitando Matteo Lucchetti a discutere con Aria Spinelli sulle dinamiche dei sistemi di produzione e distribuzione dell'arte in Olanda, confrontandoli con il sistema Italiano. Inoltre, Matteo Lucchetti introdurrà Former West, un progetto quinquennale di ricerca su scala internazionale, pensato per riflettere sulle dinamiche di cambiamento sociale, politico e culturale, intercorse dal 1989 a oggi.

Matteo Lucchetti (1984) è storico dell'arte, curatore indipendente e critico. Laureato in Storia dell'arte contemporanea all'Università di Firenze sta attualmente ultimando un MA in Arti visive e Studi curatoriali presso la NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di Milano. La sua tesi di specializzazione indaga retrospettivamente i rapporti tra comunità urbane e pratiche artistiche. È attualmente ricercatore in residenza presso il BAK di Utrecht dove sta collaborando in qualità di editor con il progetto quinquennale Former West. Dal 2006 ha collaborato con Marco Scotini per una serie di progetti che includono: We Do It. The Isola neighbourhood in two inadequate descriptive systems (Kunstraum Lakeside, Klagenfurt, 2009); Disobedience Archive (HDLU, Zagabria, 2008 e MNAC, Bucarest, 2009); e Cities from below (Fondazione Teseco, Pisa, 2006–2007).
Tra i suoi progetti curatoriali: Practicing Memory - in a time of an all-encompassing present (Cittadellarte - Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella, 2010) Altri Discorsi.Attraversamenti dell'archivio video DOCVA (Careof, Milano, 2009); ReadyMade Life, di Marco Villani (CHAN, Contemporary Art Association, Genova, 2009); una partecipazione a Public Turbulence di Bert Theis e Alberto Pesavento (quartiere Isola , Milano, 2009); The Power of the Artist #1 (Spazio Dinamico PME, Pisa, 2007). Collabora a magazine e riviste di settore come Flash Art ed Arte e Critica.
Collabora inoltre con il network per l'arte contemporanea UnDo.net ed è membro del board editoriale di No Order – Art in a Post-fordist Society. Nel 2009 ha cocurato Everybody Talks About the Weather. We Don’t, presso la NABA di Milano, un forum per giovani curatori internazionali sulla relazione tra curatela, istituzione e potere; nel 2008 è stato invitato al Laboratorio di interpretazione per curatori, progetto speciale di Manifesta7. Lucchetti vive tra Milano e Utrecht.

Aria Spinelli è curatrice e vive e lavora a Milano. Laureata in Storia dell’Arte Contemporanea presso l’Università La Sapienza (Roma), ha ottenuto un master in Arti Visive e Sudi Curatoriali presso la NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (Milano). Ha curato mostre personali di giovani artisti italiani, in Italia e all’estero. Dal 2009 fa parte del collettivo Radical Intention. Attualmente sta conducendo una ricerca sui rapporti tra arte e politica in Iran. Collabora con CHAN – Contemporary Art Association (Genova) e Isola Art Center (Milano).

RADICAL INTENTION #01: Things can Change Quickly

Talk: Aria Spinelli & Matteo Lucchetti

On June 15th Radical Intention will close its first project Things Can Change Quickly by inviting Aria Spinelli and Matteo Lucchetti to discuss issues on systems of art distribution and production in Holland, in comparison with an Italian Context. The talk will also be on the introduction to Former West, a long term interdisciplinary project on the political, social and cutural changes from 1989 till today, a project which Matteo Luccheti has been recently working on in collaboration with BAK, basis voor actuele kunst (basis for contemporary art).

Aria Spinelli (1981, New York) is a curator who lives and works in Milan.She graduated in Contemporary Art History at the University La Sapienza (Rome), obtained an MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Sudies NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (Milan). She has curated exhibitions of Young Italian artists in Italy and abroad. Since 2009 she is part of the Collective Radical Intention. She is currently conducting research on relationship between art and politics in Iran. She Collaborates with CHAN - Contemporary Art Association(Genoa) and Isola Art Center (Milan). Recent projects include: Things Can Change Quickly - Radical Intention (Jan-Jun, 2010) Horror Vacui – Occupying the present, Isola Art Center (April-June, 2010); Suberting Dualities - Caterina Silva, Project Room, Galleria VM21 (May-July, 2010); Being Visibile - Looking for Contemporary ways of signification, Spazio Dogna, Palazzo Ducale, Genova (june-july 2010).

Matteo Lucchetti (1984) is an art historian, independent curator and critic. Graduated in Contemporary Art History at the University of Florence is currently completing an MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies at NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, where he worked as an assistant for artists and curators like Maria Papadimitriou and Jens Hoffmann. He is compliting his dissertation on the relationship between urban communities and artistic practices. He is currently a researcher in residence at the BAK in Utrecht where he is working as an editor of the five-year project Former West. Since 2006 he has worked with Mark Scotini for a number of projects including: We Do It The Island neighborhood in Two Inadequate Descriptive Systems (Kunstraum Lakeside, Klagenfurt, 2009); Disobedience Archive (HDLU, Zagreb, 2008, MNAC, Bucharest, 2009 ) and Cities from below (Teseco Foundation, Pisa, 2006-2007). Among his curatorial projects: Other Speeches. Penetrations video archive DOCVA (Careof, Milan, 2009); readymade Life, Marco Villani (CHAN, Contemporary Art Association, Genoa, 2009); he particiapte in PublicTurbulence curated by Bert Theis and Alberto Pesavento (Island district, Milan, 2009); Milanopoli. A survey of the city of Milan with Jens Hoffmann (NABA, Milan, 2008), The Power of the Artist # 1 (PME Space Dynamics, Pisa, 2007). He curranlty collaborates with magazines suche as Flash Art and Art Critica and online magazines such as SuccoAcido.net and Domus. He also collaborates with the network for contemporary art UnDo.net and is a member of the editorial board of No Order - Art in a Post-Fordist Society. In 2009 he co-curated Everybody Talks About the Weather. We Do not, at NABA in Milan, a forum for young international curators the relationship of curatorship and power, and in 2008 was invited to the laboratory of interpretation for curators, special project of Manifesta 7.

After the talk, Radical Intention will offer a drink to celebrate the end of its first project Things Can Change Quickly.
