Issues of Gender & Race in Relation to Art Historical Analysis
As part of the TALKS Series, the Washington Project for the Arts
(WPAC) presents a Lecture by Salah Hassan - Editor, Editor Of Nka:
Journal Of Contemporary African Art.
Hassan is Assistant Professor in the Africana Studies Department at
Cornell University and Editor of the Journal of Contemporary African
Art. He is co-curating a major new exhibition with Olu Oguibe for the
future Venice Biennale. His recent exhibition, Insertions, was on view
at Apex Art in NY. Blackness of Color, and his forthcoming exhibition
on the visual expressions of the Black Arts Movement opens at the
Herbert F. Johnson Museum at Cornell University in Fall 2000. Most
recently, Hassan has been the recipient of a grant from the Ford
Foundation to organize a major conference on the Black Arts
Movement at Cornell University.
