Using both black and white and color images, artist's photographs range from birds-eye view landscapes to intimate architectural scenes of Rome. A series of photographs for 'Altered States of Reality'.
NEW YORK, NY October 04, 2010– Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Italian photographer, Riccardo Piva, in Altered States of Reality. The exhibition is scheduled to run from October 29, 2010 through November 19, 2010 (opening reception: Thursday, November 04, 2010).
The delightful and moving digital photography of Italian born artist Riccardo Piva captures moments that inspire the imagination and connect to the soul. Using both black and white and color images, Piva’s photographs range from birds-eye view landscapes to intimate architectural scenes of Rome. Piva’s work is strictly spontaneous; his work is deeply inspired and built on capturing the memorable essence of an inspirational moment. His black and white architectural photography in particular is deeply enchanting. Piva’s photographs express strong directional compositions and he has developed a skillful process of producing a high level of contrast, which is one of the key factors that make his images so appealing. Piva’s photographs of his hometown also have a powerful emotional element, suggesting a sense of nostalgia and grandeur, as well as a hint of awe of a community that once was the center of human thought and power.
Altered States of Reality presents some of the best in contemporary photography. Working with different technologies, and focusing on subject matter varying from flora and fauna to urban scenes to abstract impressions, these remarkable photographers are united by a dedication to their craft and an uncanny ability to capture the world as you've never seen it before.
