Presentation of the silent animated film "Mistaken Identity", with live performance
In "Mistaken Identity" Selwood visits the forgotten characters and deserted landscapes from film noir. She started filming the broken steps, under ocean pier sand expressway and then drew over them, creating a commentary on the artifice of cinema and memory. She re-imagines the character of Velda from Robert Aldrich's Kiss Me Deadly in her film Mistaken Identity to create a personal meditation on romantic myth and self deception. Performer Clarissa Romano, writer and singer, spent the last four years in Oxford, Mississippi where her performances included singing the National Anthem at a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) cage fight, touring with a jazz trio around the Delta, and fronting for a rock band. From 8pm, admission free.
