18th French Film Festival

AGF Theatre, Singapore

The biggest ever in Singapore with 28 feature films
from October 29th to November 12th, 2002

28 movies shown in two weeks. With a strong highlight on women issues, including a very special Women Directors Selection . Indeed, not only women issues in films but also womens films have been, for the past ten years, a growing trend in the French film industry, and brought new strength and fresh hair. With directors like Catherine Breillat, Zabou Breitman, Marion Vernoux, among many others, something is happening And sometimes, women can be far more controversial than men But men themselves feel they have to deal with women issues, as in Mademoiselle or All about love . Or even in the Confessions of a pick-up artist .
This years festival will also include a retrospective of François Ozon, a still young but already famous director, whose latest movie is all about Eight Women , no less.
Thriller movies, like the very disturbing Sombre or the merciless film noir Gangsters will also be screened, showing some of the darkest trends of French films. Prestige will be there too, with a very exclusive screening of Stars,The Dancers of the Paris Opera , which has gain an elitist but yet glamorous international success.
