The Turner Prize is widely considered to be one of the most important and prestigious awards for the visual arts in Europe.
The Turner Prize is widely considered to be one of the most important and prestigious awards for the visual arts in Europe.
The £20,000 prize is presented in a ceremony at Tate Britain during a live television broadcast by Channel 4.
Tate has announced the four artists who have been shortlisted for the Turner Prize 2002, sponsored by Channel 4. The artists are:
* Fiona Banner
* Liam Gillick
* Keith Tyson
* Catherine Yass
Work by the shortlisted artists will be shown in an exhibition at Tate Britain from 30 October 2002 - 5 January 2003.
The winner of the £20,000 prize will be announced at Tate Britain on 8 December 2002 during a live broadcast by Channel 4.
