Two exhibitions

Muzeum Sztuki, Lodz

The exhibition by Oskar Dawicki and Zbigniewa Warpechowskiego introduces the concept of common time, where the chronological differences disappear and are replaced by a particular simultaneity of paintings. The second show tells the story of a particular tradition of the Polish avant-garde that started with the conceptual breakthrough in the art of the 1960s and 1970s, such as Marek Konieczny or Zbigniew Warpechowski, to their students such as Piotr Uklanski and Cezary Bodzianowski.

comunicato stampa

Warpechowski / Dawicki

A joint exhibition of Oskar Dawicki and Zbigniewa Warpechowskiego, a master and an apprentice, tells a story about the intensive dialogue between the past and the present of Polish art. A dialogue of a strong ppreposterous character, where it is never completely known if it is the present that quotes the past or if it is the older image quoting the contemporary one. The exhibition Warpechowski / Dawicki, basing mostly on the confrontation of the artists’ works introduces the concept of common time, where the chronological differences disappear and are replaced by a particular simultaneity of paintings. The exhibition also tries to negotiate the dominating ways of historisation and institutionalisation of Polish avant-garde art.

Bodzianowski / Konieczny / Uklański / Warpechowski

The exhibition Bodzianowski, Konieczny, Uklański, Warpechowski is concerned with direct references, continuations and connections between the artists of the 1970s and the young generation of artists who began their activity in the 1990s. It tells the story of a particular tradition of the Polish avant-garde that started with the artists connected with the conceptual breakthrough in the art of the 1960s. and 1970s (of strong existential roots), such as Marek Konieczny or Zbigniew Warpechowski, to their students such as Piotr Uklański and Cezary Bodzianowski, who define the shape of contemporary artistic scene to a significant degree.
