Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari present the magazine Toiletpaper, with live acts by Nico Vascellari, Miss Q Lee, Wang Inc. and drinks by Disaronno. A magazine as a platform for art? A different kind of exhibition? Toiletpaper magazine presents 21 double pages of images without accompanying text or explanatory contextualisation that work as much with symbolic, narrative and visual enticements as with the mechanisms, attractiveness and sentimentality of images found in art, film and advertising. Which images do we react to? What triggers physical and emotional involvement? How do we select images in media that do not provide us with a clear context like the art institute, cinema, fashion photograph or lifestyle magazine, which explain and define our perception, but instead, like the internet, allow all image types and forms to exist side-by-side, equalised and 'liberated' and without any hierarchy. To mark the event on 1 April, the magazine is available through the Kunsthalle Zurich at the Cabaret Voltaire for a price of CHF 15. After that it can be obtained at the reception desk of the Kunsthalle Zurich in the Museum Barengasse.
