With: Gillian Carnegie, Anne Collier, Mark Leckey, Sherrie Levine, Seth Price and Richard Wright

Lismore Castle Arts is delighted to present its 2011 annual exhibition, Still Life, which opens on April 9th and continues until September 30th 2011. Still Life is curated by Polly Staple and is the seventh exhibition at Lismore Castle Arts.

Still Life explores the status of images as objects. Artistic strategies represented in the exhibition include appropriation, repetition and serial production. Points of reference include the production of images influenced by new technologies and the relationship between painting, photography and the moving image. The unique context of the gallery's location—a converted wing of a castle, set in extensive formal gardens—provides a further framing device for the exhibition's broad theme of contemporary arts' use and understanding of the historic genre of still life.

There are six artists participating in the exhibition: Gillian Carnegie, Anne Collier, Mark Leckey, Sherrie Levine, Seth Price and Richard Wright. The exhibition includes a new site-specific installation by Wright. A catalogue, designed by Studio Frith Kerr London, with commissioned texts by Polly Staple and Richard Birkett, will be published in May 2011 by Lismore Castle Arts to accompany the exhibition.

Confirmed events in support of the exhibition include a talk by Lismore Castle Arts Director (May 2011), Curator's Talk (July 2011), and an artist's led seminar (September 2011). Further information on events will be announced in due course on www.lismorecastlearts.ie
