comunicato stampa

LOOP FAIR is the most important annual event for all those involved and interested in buying, learning, disseminating and enjoying the latest video art productions. LOOP Fair focuses on new releases and present mostly premières. Every year the best proposal is rewarded a prize by a selection committee.

Galleries from around the world gather in Barcelona to provide an overview of current video art trends, as well as the future possibilities that video and new technologies offer to the artist. LOOP FAIR takes place at the Hotel Catalonia Ramblas, in the centre of Barcelona, offering the galleries an exclusive and intimate space to present their artists’ work.

LOOP participation is by invitation only. Galleries are invited by a committee chaired by the French collector Jean-Conrad Lemaître (Paris) and formed by the collectors Isabelle Lemaître, Marc and Josée Gensollen (Marseille), and galerist Christopher Grimes (Christopher Grimes Gallery, Santa Monica, California). The advisory board includes the collector Manuel de Santaren (Boston) and German galerist Anita Beckers (Galerie Anita Beckers, Frankfurt) as well.

LOOP FAIR 19-21 MAY 2011

The 9th LOOP Fair offers a perspective on the new video art tendencies scene by conducting a careful selection through an international specialist committee that selects local, national and international galleries to present their videos inside the rooms of Catalonia Ramblas Hotel. This year’s fair committee is presided by collector Jean-Conrad Lemaître (Paris) and formed by the collectors Josée and Marc Gensollen (Marseille) and the galerist Christopher Grimes (Santa Monica, California).

LOOP is a reference point for professionals in the art world with 42 galleries coming from 13 countries offering an ideal frame to showcase premieres. A total of 10 videos will be screened for the first time at either a national or international level. As the number of participating galleries has grown, LOOP Fair is now more than ever the essential event for all of those who are interested in watching, learning and buying the latest productions in video art. This edition’s prices go from 2.800 to 60.000 Euros.

The following galleries will be represented at the fair: Helga de Alvear (Madrid), Javier López-Mário Sequeira (Madrid) and Estrany-De la Mota (Barcelona) from the national/local scene; and Annet Fellink Gallery (Amsterdam), Conner Contemporary Art (Washington D.C.) and Lokal_30 (Warsaw) from the international scene.

On Thursday 19th LOOP Fair will be open exclusively for professionals and on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st it will be open for the general public.
