Denise Bibro Fine Art is pleased to announce the exhibition ROLES & IDENTITY,
December 12, 2002 - February 1, 2002.
The eight artists in this exhibition are investigating the roles people assume
in their lives and their public and private identities (both conventional and
implied). An individual's gender, their family position, groups or friends
they associate with are affected by cultural circumstances and social
discourse. The various ways in which each artist deals with these issues
illustrates how diverse the human spectrum is and how the many factors: sexual
characteristics, age brackets, customs and cultures, to name only a few, play
a function in identity and role position. What becomes evident in this
exhibition is not answers, but questions and limitless discourse on this
subject.
