Some of the most prominent contemporary artists from South East Asia
The show 'Asia: Looking South' features some of the most prominent contemporary artists from South East Asia: FX Harsono (Indonesia), Geraldine Javier (Philippines), Eko Nugroho (Indonesia), Ugo Untoro (Indonesia), Natee Utarit (Thailand), Agus Suwage (Indonesia), the artist group Vertical Submarine (Singapore) and Entang Wiharso (Indonesia). The artists working in all different artistic media have the capacity to investigate sociocultural and political topics, not only from their own region, in a highly original way. The show at ARNDT, which is guest curated together with Jean-Marc Decrop and Richard Koh, gives a survey illustrating the prosperity and diversity of these new artistic positions of South East Asia. Opening: Friday, 9 September 2011, 6-9 pm.
