Philosophy's Emptiness, Lectures (3/9), part of the programm related to the exhibition "Kunst und Philosophie"

sintesi del comunicato stampa

Philosophy's Emptiness, Lectures (3/9). Part of the programm related to the exhibition "Kunst und Philosophie". When we ask what philosophy is, we must also ask what it is not. Alain Badiou proposes that philosophy has no truth of its own, rather it should seek to shelter and protect the truth generated by four conditions - art, science, politics and love. By why should philosophy have even this role? This lecture asks whether philosophy's strength lies its in absolutely generic nature and if all attempts to make it critical, hermeneutic, foundational and so on are doomed to (positive) failure. Nina Poweris a senior lecturer in philosophy at Roehampton University. She has written widely on politics, film, philosophy and, most recently, police and protesting. Selected publications: Shelia Rowbotham presents Mary Wollstonecraft's A Vindication of the Rights of Women, Revolutions Series (London: Verso, 2010); One-Dimensional Woman (Hampshire: Zero Books, 2009).
