A public event celebrating the opening. The writer Michal Hvorecky will give a lecture to commemorate
A public event celebrating the opening of the Mahnmal Turnertempel (Turner Temple Memorial). The original Turnertempel was built in 1871-72 as Vienna's third synagogue in Turnergasse 22 (hence the name of the temple) and was subsequently destroyed on 9 November 1938. Due to an initiative of coobra, an association which deals with Jewish life and the consequences of the Holocaust in Vienna's 15th district, a memorial was built on the site of the former Turnertempel - the Mahnmal Turnertempel (Turner Temple Memorial). The opening of the memorial will be celebrated with a series of events, part of which is that on 9 November in Herklotzgasse 21. Witnesses of the time, who come from Israel and Austria, will be present, Michal Hvorecky - Slovak writer and member of the Erste Foundation Community - will give a lecture, and the public is invited to discuss and commemorate. 9 November 2011, 7 pm.
