comunicato stampa

The first American retrospective of the work of Andreas Gursky, this exhibition surveys the German photographer's achievements from 1984 to the present. Gursky's richly detailed, large-scale color photographs present a stunning and inventive portrayal of the contemporary world as seen in the imposing order of vast hotel lobbies, international stock exchanges, enormous sporting events, apartment blocks, and office buildings. Andreas Gursky was organized by the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

This exhibition was organized by The Museum of Modern Art, New York, with generous grants from the William Randolph Hearst Endowment Fund. The accompanying publication is made possible by the John Szarkowski Publications Fund. Support for the San Francisco presentation has been provided by Collectors Forum, an auxiliary of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Shirley Ross Sullivan and Charles Sullivan.
