Fourth edition. Day practices and tendencies in the domains of the exploratory electronic and electro-acoustic musics
With the purpose to promote experimentation in the sound and audiovisual arts in Portugal, the association Granular organizes every two years the festival Metasonic - 2012 marks its fourth edition, once again with a showcase of the present day practices and tendencies in the domains of the exploratory electronic and electro-acoustic musics. This is a vast world opened by figures like John Cage, Pierre Henry and Iannis Xenakis and by collectives like Musica Elettronica Viva, AMM and Nuova Consonanza, a world made of soundscapes, concretisms, circuit bending and hacking operations. Beside the concerts at Teatro Maria Matos and Culturgest, this year's Metasonic includes an European project with the same coordinates, the result of a partnership between Granular and other six similar associations - Opensound. During one week at Goethe Institut Lissabon, IPA and other urban spaces, sound will be the object of a shared apprenticeship, with no distinction between teachers and students, professional artists and people interested in creating art, finally becoming common property.
