The festival discovers new talents, developing local projects, putting together different art forms, breaking habits. This year it features a major exhibition that occupies all of Espace Arlaud, the opening of the restored Theatre Arsenic and a lot of interactive events appropriate for all ages.
A free festival that brings daring artists to a large audience. Lausanne took a gamble 16 years ago when it created a new event, unique from all the rest but also somehow complementary. Only time will tell if this combination of artistic tests and thirst for discovery bears fruit. At any rate, here are the facts: the audience is made up of a large number of enthusiasts, the city of Lausanne has become a hotspot for experimental European art and the festival has given Swiss artists the power to shine abroad.
Challenging the dominant artistic trend and welcoming the future generation have always been the primary goals of the "forever innovative" Urbaines. Discovering new talents, developing local projects, putting together different art forms, breaking habits, and above all sharing with you our enthusiasm for avant-garde work.
We invite you to be part of this exploration. In a dozen venues that are eager to host daring projects, we will present a choice selection of both Swiss and international artists, whose origins and interests vary but whose goals and personal ambitions are linked. We present more than 40 works, including performances, interactive installations, shows, exhibitions, screenings and concerts.
This yearʼs festival is special for many reasons: a major exhibition that occupies all of Espace Arlaud, in which art students display their research projects; the opening of the restored Théâtre Arsenic; and a lot of interactive events appropriate for all ages—more information about these will be in the last section of the programme.
Hope to see you there!
