A group show curated by Patricia Asbaek

The CCA Kunsthalle is very pleased to present Matter of Choices; a group show curated by Patricia Asbaek.

The exhibition shows a very personal selection of works that have been picked among the highlights of the Art Foundation Mallorca Collection, recent donations to the CCA Collection as well as a few works from Patricia Asbaek’s own private collection.

Matter of Choices is an eclectic exhibition, in the sense that it shows a wide range of carefully selected works from a variety of artists, with different styles and elements, combined in an extraordinary way. It includes everything from artists such as Michael Elmgreen & Ingar Dragset, who often reconfigure the familiar and unquestioned with subversive humour and characteristic wit, but at the same time address serious cultural concerns, to Jonathan Meese who has spread his practice over almost every conceivable medium and is not afraid of evoking vastly different atmospheres, explorations, and historical periods.

The exhibition reflects upon artworks that have had an extraordinary impact on Patricia Asbaek, and have touched her in a significant way, both aesthetically and perceptually. Striking power, passionate messages, and remarkable new approaches to art are values that have been the background for Patricia Asbaek’s selection for this exhibition. Based on 30 years of experience in the art world, it may precisely be this subjectivity that gives rise to other viewer’s susceptibility in regards to the artworks on display.

Since 2001, Patricia Asbaek has been dedicated to create one of the most impressive private cultural centres in Europe. The CCA Andratx has not only hosted a number of art exhibits, but also includes an Artists-in-Residence Program admitting some of the most talented younger artists from around the world. In addition to this, the CCA hosts the AFM Collection that has established itself as an internationally renowned collection of Contemporary Art in Europe, with approximately 200 artworks from 150 major artists. In addition to her work with CCA Patricia Asbaek started Asbaek Art Consulting together with Thomas Asbaek in 2008.

Lists of artists: Art & Language, Florian Auer, Matthias Bitzer, Jacob Borges, Alice Channer, Michael Elmgreen & Ingar Dragset, Amy Granat, Alexander Hoda, Yago Hortal, Nathan Hylden, Sergej Jensen, Bernhard Martin, Jonathan Meese, Sofie Bird Møller, Michael Mørk, Sarah Ortmeyer, Laurina Paperina, Jan van der Ploeg, Gerwald Rockenschaub, Eva Rothschild, Filib Schürmann, Nedko Solakov, Superflex, Gert & Uwe Tobias, Christopher Wool & Richard Hell.

Johan Furåker & Ditte Ejlerskov
In Search of Eden

The CCA Andratx is pleased to present the exhibition "In Search of Eden" by artists Ditte Ejlerskov (1982, DK) and Johan Furåker (1978, SE). Both artists residents in Malmö (SE), will be taking part in the CCA Artist-in-Residence Program during the month of December. They have prepared a very interesting exhibition project which will be completed with two more works to be done during their Residency at the CCA Studios.

The exhibition will explore the different interpretations and descriptions of Eden along the History of Mankind; deciphering what is myth and what truth. The more than 20 works on display at the show, bring into question concepts like utopia and paradise, making the viewer make his own interpretations of the concept of Eden.
